Each Saturday morning we have Lego and board games along with a craft available for children and families to use during their library visit. We also have some Duplo available for younger Lego fans. 

There is no requirement to book, simply call in and enjoy!

Kilkenny Library Service is proud to announce an exciting programme of events for Science Week 2025, taking place from 9-16 November, celebrating the national theme: “Then. Today. Tomorrow.” This year marks the 30th anniversary of Science Week in Ireland, a milestone that reflects on the evolution of science and its impact on our lives - past, present, and future.

Thanks to the generous support of CALMAST, the South East Technological University’s STEM Engagement Centre, Kilkenny Library Service will host a vibrant mix of workshops, talks, and family-friendly activities designed to spark curiosity and creativity in all ages.

All events are free, but booking is essential for some activities.

Come along to our new Silent Book Club

No assigned reading; no pressure; just you, your book, and a cozy corner. Chat to your fellow readers, or not….the choice is yours! Bring your current read, your favourite coffee,  and enjoy some quiet company while you catch up on your reading.

The Silent Book Club takes place on the third Saturday of every month.

Our Lego Club continues at the library on Saturday the 15th of November from 11.30am – 12.30pm.

Enjoy making Lego with other Lego fans. 

Each month we will have a different theme/set a new building challenge for the session.

Suitable for 7-12yrs.

On Saturday, 15^th November from 11:30am to 12:30pm, we will celebrate the return of the Little Library at Bedtime initiative. Thomastown Library are holding a special Bedtime Story and Craft session for young children. All are welcome and no booking is required.

Families with children aged 4 and under can collect a free story book and library card wallet anytime throughout November (while stocks last).

Join us every Saturday morning at Thomastown Library for some lovely stories and some simple crafts.
