The talk will focus on the pisheogs and beliefs surrounding the month from witches stealing your profit to shape-shifting hares while the talk will look at the May Bush tradition in Ireland and its connections across Europe.

Explore practical ways to support your child with dyslexia at home and help them access the curriculum with confidence. This informative talk will look at how dyslexia can affect learning and discuss positive, strengths-based approaches that enable children to reach their full potential.

Parents will be introduced to simple, effective strategies that can be used in everyday routines, as well as helpful tools and resources that can make homework and studying more manageable.

Speaker: Annette Ormond

Annette Ormond is a Primary teacher working in schools for the past seventeen years. She is a passionate lifelong learner and is currently completing a Masters in Educational Leadership in Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), and studying towards a degree in Psychology. She has worked with the Dyslexia Association of Ireland for the past eight years and was awarded the IATSE Testimonial and Award for Excellence in Support Teaching in 2017, when studying in University College Dublin (UCD).

Supporting Anxious Children – Parent Information Workshop at Mayfair Library

Date: Thursday, March 26th | 10.30am – 12.30pm

The HSE’s Primary Care Child Psychology Service will be hosting an informative and supportive workshop designed specifically for parents and caregivers of anxious children. This session will offer practical guidance on understanding childhood anxiety, recognising common signs of stress, and learning everyday strategies to help children feel more secure and confident.

Parents will also receive insights into how anxiety affects children of different ages, what behaviours to look out for, and how to create a calm, reassuring environment at home.

The workshop aims to empower families with tools they can use immediately, as well as outline when and how to seek further support if needed.

This is a relaxed, welcoming event open to all parents and guardians and no booking is required.

Pop Up Exhibition with Artist Oliver Bennett at Mayfair Library

We are delighted to welcome Kilkenny based Artist Oliver Bennett for a pop up exhibition showcasing his artwork this March.

A bit about Oliver:

I have always had a passion for art and all things creative, using them as a way to express myself and explore the interior landscape of psyche and emotion. Working on large-scale canvas, I like to reflect my thoughts and feelings onto the canvas with both muted and contrasting colour palettes. Having a permanent studio space has allowed me the opportunity to develop and experiment with my style. Inspired by contemporary and abstract artists such as Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman I find that flexibility in both my approach and process is important and necessary. Whilst I continue to use a variety of materials ranging from paints and markers to metallic foils, I find that my primary medium is shifting towards oil paints. I am simply in love with the richness and depth that can be provided from oil paints, especially on a large scale.
